PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Ice is scheduled to practice at the Pepsi Coliseum Tuesday-Thursday from 2:45-4:45 p.m. and has a pre-game skate on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m.
SHOOTOUT SAVVY: All three home games last week for the Ice were decided in a shootout and five of the club’s last six contests have gone the “shootout distance.” Indy came out on top in the shootout against Green Bay on Wednesday and Friday versus Waterloo, but the Black Hawks gave the home team their first shootout loss on Saturday. Overall, the Ice is still a USHL-best 7-1 in shootouts and has been led late in the game by six-win goaltender Scott Darling and John Kemp’s five shootout scores.
CHART-TOPPERS: The Ice has nine home games in the month of January, but six of the nine are against three of the elite teams in the USHL in Sioux City, Waterloo and now this weekend’s opponent, Omaha. Omaha, who has won three consecutive games, is 10-3-1 against the East Division and 10-6-1 on the road this year. The Ice is 9-3-1 against the West Division this season and 14-2-2 at home. The two division powerhouses have split the season series this year at one win apiece with both previous games being held in Omaha, NE.
STAT PACK: Kemp is first in the USHL in assists (33) and power play assists (1

and second overall in points (40)….Paul Carey is first in the league in power play goals (11), shots (139) and is second overall in goals (20)…..Greg Squires is tied for fourth in assists (22) and tied for sixth in points (35)….Brent Gwidt is tied for second with three shorthanded goals, while Brandon Blandina is first with three shorthanded assists….Scott Darling is second among USHL netminders in wins (15)….John Carlson is second among USHL defensemen in points (23).
PLAYER POTPOURRI: Carey has four assists in his last four games…Kemp has three points (G, 2A) in his last three games…Carlson has three assists in his last two games.
TEAM MORSELS: Indiana is 14-2-3 when scoring first and 13-1-3 in one-goal games…The Ice has outscored their opponents 40-29 in the third period of games….Indy leads the USHL in goals for/game (4.03).
ALUMNI WAVES: Garrett Roe (2004-07) tallied a pair of goals in St. Cloud State’s 3-1 victory over Minnesota on Friday night…..Mike Gurtler (2006-07) notched the game-winning goal shorthanded in Mercyhurst’s 4-2 victory over Army on Saturday night.
